Coffee C-Market Price Spike: What It Means for You

After peaking at $2.83 per pound last week, the global coffee market has seen a significant price surge, with the C-market hitting an inflation-adjusted average of $2.74 per pound—a 40% increase compared to historical averages.

This spike is driven by weather disruptions, fears around the impact and uncertainty of EUDR, and supply chain challenges, creating both opportunities and risks for coffee producers. While higher prices can mean short-term profits, they may also lead to market instability and potential quality compromises.

EUDR Extension: What’s Next?

In a dramatic vote, the European Parliament has approved a one-year delay in implementing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), now set to take effect in December 2025.

This regulation aims to curb deforestation by restricting imports linked to agricultural commodities. While the delay allows more time for businesses to prepare, it has sparked debates about the impact on the regulation’s effectiveness.

Producers, exporters, and importers who invested in compliance that was supposed to take effect for shipments already on their way to Europe have expressed major dissatisfaction with the ruling.
