Welcome to another series on The Daily Coffee Pro Podcast by Map It Forward podcast for the week commencing Oct 4, 2024!
Firstly, This week we saw the C reach 275! My hope is that this holds long enough to see the actors in the market exploiting low prices, finally have to close their businesses because they can no longer afford to exploit the situation. If you disagree with me, come at me!
Next, What a wild week it’s been in logistics for coffee (and most commodities really) across the supply chain. Dock workers started and ended a strike on the eastern seaboard of the USA costing the economy $5 billion dollars a day and causing massive shipping delays.
Further, we saw a proposed delay on the implementation of EUDR. The next time you meet someone who says “I’m going to leave my corporate job because I want to live the easy life in coffee”, please send them this email! lol
Also, this week Map It Forward has an announcement! We are proud to present “Introduction to Regenerative Coffee Farming” - A live online event for coffee producers and the wider coffee industry in English, Spanish, and Portuguese on Oct 28, 29, and 30th.
This is the first phase in a 3 phase project and this week on the podcast, you’ll hear from the trainers of our workshops on why our focus as an industry needs to be on regenerative agriculture if we’re going to have a future for the supply of coffee.
